Pagans or Wiccans: A question concerning solistices and equinoxes for you please?

Here in the northern hemisphere, we are nearing the winter solstice. On that day we have the least amount of daylight and the longest night. In six months it is reversed for the summer solstice. Each equinox has roughly equal day and night.
