Did anyone try to make peace with the iraqis?

Not really in recent history. British, French and Russians have been fighting over it for the last 100years, not to mention the Turks. It was always a very important area for the British Empire, which meant it was in constant disarray. Unlike the Arabs who sided with the British (made famous through British officer Lawrence of Arabia) they sided with Ottomans. If Iraq sided with the British who knows they could have been like the rich Arab countries now. instead they got The Sykes-Picot agreement Iraq got its Independence in 1930s from Britain and in the 1950 they preformed a coup d'etat and were a republic that almost brings us up to date, as you can see it is a nation that was ruled by others for so long and only had a tiny bit of Independence from 1950s until the new Empire came along the American empire. Lets just hope they are better masters than us British were.
